MZF's Bookclub: book lists

Welcome everyone to our Book Club Blog Page. I am excited to have all of you here!

For sometime now I have had the urge to read more, spend more time with family and friends, engage in some fun outside of our norm activities but like all of us being so busy I struggled to put all of these wants and wishes into action, until now. I decided why not combine them and the idea for a family and friends bookclub was born. I discussed the idea with a few of you and thought enough talk time for action!

Each and all of you that I have invited to join holds a special place and meaning in my heart and with that being said this is an activity for us to have fun, learn some more about each other, ourselves and the world, through the wonderful world of books!

Our goal is to read just one book a month leaving plenty of time for our busy lives; time to read other books on our own, time for those of us who are "out of practice or slow readers" to actually finish a book...so I hope this fairs well with all. The general format is to pick a book for each month read it and discuss it over this page by blogging and commenting on each others blogs wether you liked or disliked the read for that month EVERYONE'S opinion is important to help us learn, expand and see other points of view besides our own:-) Also even though we are all busy I would like to try and hold a bookclub gathering at the end or begining of each month to get together and discuss the book just read or the next book in line. Since we are all not in the same state (love ya B and K) or sometimes we just can't get out we will try to coordinate on our meeting days to have skype set up so all can enjoy the fun with us!

So just to clear the air, this is as much an idea and attempt to read and discuss as it is to get together as a whole of family and friends. Life is short so the more time and connections we can have and make with each other to me means the more joy and fullfillment that is added to each of our lives! I hope all of you share in my excitement and well intentions of this "Club" and can't wait to began our journey together.

So let's get started,enough talk right!? Our first month will officially start in September and the book for the month after much pondering I have decided will be A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith. This is a long childhood favorite of mine that I have been wanting to reread for awhile now. For those of you who have not read it I hope you find it as enjoyable and meaningful as I did when I first read the book. If you do not own this book or can not find it at the library it was recently 20% off at Target so I think around $10 and I am sure it is available at Borders and Barnes and Noble etc...

A little side note in this novel I feel like I have just written, we may have read some of the book selections before please be open to the experience and remember a second read may offer some new perspective or insight we missed the first go round. With that said I will try to avoid this as much as possible. I would like to mix it up with classics and catagories that others may prefer or not prefer, lending each of us to read books we may never have chosen ourselves. NEW EXPERIENCES

So to help get everyone represented please send me a list of no more then 13 books at this point that you would like to read so I can compose a list of books for the coming months. I will take everyone's choices into consideration and either through delibrate selection such as multiple suggestions for a certain book or a random draw from each list.

book lists

I haven't got any book lists yet, Nancy I looked for the email you sent but I haven't recieved any? So short and sweet I know you are All busy right with the start of school and what not but hopefully you have found the book or put your name on the list at the Library b/c I have heard there is quite a wait for the book. And if I could get everyone's List of books by around mid September that would be a great help! I know the 4 followers that are shown but also Mom and Stacy are joining and Sue I believe and possibly Stacy's neighbor or friend. Also was not sure if Dad,Matt, Gary or Bryan were interested in joining,kurtis might join as well.
